In aid of The Township Yogi Project to raise funds to send two of their teachers to study in India.
The Township Yogi Project offers free yoga classes to people living in townships in South Africa. With the help of volunteer yoga, they provide free and regular yoga classes to those living in townships who need it most – including children and the elderly, HIV/Aids and TB sufferers, and those who are victims of crime, violence and unemployment.
Jim Harrington Yoga Union is raising the necessary funds to send two of their dedicated yoga teachers to advance their Yoga Education in India. Their work in the township has a deep impact on their community, and we want to see this work continue and flourish.
Yoga is a practice that empowers people of all walks of life by letting them feel their true worth and their true essence. Through yoga we get to feel a sense of ourselves that is deeper than the usual identifiers (like language, age, job, status, that kind of thing). This kind of empowerment is so important in the communities supported by Township Yogi Project.
You can help:
1. By joining Jim’s yoga class on 22 August – all proceeds go to sending Zwele and Njabulo to India, or:
2. by donating to this fundraiser to help send these two dedicated men to India, and more teachers from KwaMashu and other townships after them. Your donation will have a profound impact on hundreds of people, not just on the lives of the teachers who study in India, but also the lives of the people they go on to teach back home in South Africa.
